President's Message

dan
Greetings to new officers and members as we start the 2007-2008 school years.

We will have many challenges this year and open lines of communications now will assure a better Milpitas Unified Council of PTA’s for the years to come.  Who would have imagined that Milpitas would have grown the way it has? Therein is the challenge.

Parents and students at PTSA member schools can immediately get involved with their cities future by joining and participating in the PTA. Parents can guide young student leaders to become great citizens in Milpitas by exploring together the PTSA organization at the local, state, and national level. This critical planning year will directly affect future generations of students in Milpitas.

  • Our PTA’s (PTSA’s) are active in the traffic committee, which is working diligently with Milpitas Unified School District (MUSD), City Council, and Valley Transit Authority (VTA). The traffic committee is working hard to lower monthly student pass costs for the Escuela Parkway schools and trying to encourage students and parents to embrace the GREEN environment philosophy, which should result in fewer cars for less traffic congestion, and emissions, or walk or bike for better health.
  • The planning is underway for the new high school and our city is still growing. The PTA’s (PTSA’s) should support the city and district office efforts to put together the best plan possible.
  • The PTA leadership is growing in Milpitas and we are establishing vice presidents of communications at the unit level to assure that each unit is able to communicate effectively within their organizations and as the Milpitas PTA as a body.
  • PTA is actively developing parenting resources for our middle school programs. We urge parents to support their students in middle and high school by volunteering to chaperone dances, be mentors for student activities, and help at PTA sponsored events or sponsor a seminar on resolving differences with your teenager.
PTA in Milpitas is as active and growing as Milpitas itself is. For those of you active in PTA again thank you for your service, and we look forward to working with you. If you want to volunteer, or make a donation, or have a question about PTA, or how PTA works, please contact me. By the way, thank you for reading this all the way to the end.

Daniel Bobay, President
Milpitas Unified Council of PTA’s
